Export turnovers of agriculture, forestry and fisheries in 01/2019

In 01/2019, export turnovers of agriculture, forestry and fisheries was estimated at US $ 3.2 billion

According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery in January 2019 was estimated at US $ 3.2 billion, 90.4% of the same period in 2018, leading the trade surplus to an estimated US $ 583 million.

In particular, the export value of major agricultural products was estimated at nearly USD 1.55 billion, equaling 82.8% compared to the same period in 2018. Some agricultural products with export value increased over the same period in 2018 such as: Rubber reached USD 210 million (+ 5.8%). Cashew nuts witnessed a slight increase in export volume over the same period, but export turnover decreased by USD 254 million (-19.9%). Besides, coffee, rice, pepper, cassava and cassava products, vegetables and fruits both decreased in volume and export value. Particularly:

  • Coffee exports reached 166 thousand tons (-17.5%), the value was estimated at USD 289 million;
  • Rice reached 373 thousand tons (-24.2%), the value was estimated at USD 167 million;
  • Pepper was estimated at 14 thousand tons (-24.2%), the value was estimated at USD 43 million;
  • Cassava was estimated at USD 291 thousand tons (-28%), the value was estimated at USD 103 million;
  • Vegetables and fruits were estimated at USD 333 million (-13.2%).

Export of livestock products in 01/2019 was estimated at US $ 53 million, up 17.1%. Seafood export was estimated at US $ 644 million, down 3.9%, of which: Pangasius was estimated at US $ 165 million, down 4.4%; Shrimp of all kinds was estimated at 260 million USD, down 2.2%.

Export of main forest products was estimated at 930 million USD, up 10.5%, of which wood and wood products were estimated at 852 million USD, up 10%; rattan and bamboo products, rush were estimated at USD 39 million, up 21.7%.

In 01/2019, the value of imported agricultural, forestry and fishery products was estimated at US $ 2.57 million, down 6.8% compared to the same period of 2018. In which, import of fertilizers and pesticides and the main agricultural products was estimated at USD 2.19 billion, down 6%. Imported products increasing sharply in January 2019 compared with the same period included soybeans, up 191%; fertilizer, up 94.7%; pesticides and raw materials up 21%.
