This morning, 6th September, the Central Vietnam agriculture Association cooperated with Japan Research Institute, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to organize the "Conference on agriculture about agricultural experiences, farmers and rural areas of Japan - lessons from the practical"
Attending and presenting at the seminar were Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue. All leaders attending at the seminar were Party Central Committee members, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Central People's Committee of Xuan Sot together with Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung - the Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Association, and the President of the Japan-East Asia Research Institute Tsutomu Takebe.
Also, some other delegates associated with agriculture attending the conference were nearly 400 people from Vietnam Women's Union, scientists, enterprises, cooperatives, farmers and representatives from Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Embassy of Japan and Vietnam, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
At the seminar, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue highly appreciated the initiative of the Central Vietnam Agriculture Association to organize a training conference on "Experience of agriculture - rural - farmer of Japan – Practical lessons "at exactly the same time that the Central Committee of the Communist Party is reviewing 10 years of implementation of Resolution No. 26 on agriculture - farmers - rural areas. On the other hand, the Deputy also announced that the recommendations and suggestions of the conference will be the basis for the ministries, branches and localities to study and consult to serve as summing up as well as contributing to the renewal of contents, methods, and activities to develop agriculture of Vietnam Agriculture Association in the coming time.
Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized that one of the typical experiences that Vietnam has studied and used is the “one village one product” - OVOP was successfully implemented in Japan in 1979 during construction. The development of the agricultural economy in the country in general has paid special attention to the socio-economic development of rural areas in the direction of internal development and value, attaching importance to the resources which are available in Japan such as land, natural resources, geographical conditions, technology, pride, creativity and culture.
Speaking at the workshop, Chairman Thao Xuan Xuan affirmed: “With the efforts of the entire Party, the entire people, including the great contribution of farmers and Vietnam Agricultural Association, agriculture and rurals of Vietnam has achieved important achievements, always acts as the support of the economy. Agriculture has achieved rapid and stable growth over the long term, and the agricultural structure has shifted in a positive direction.
However, compared with the demand for development of agriculture, rural areas and the needs of farmers today, the level of Vietnam Agriculture Association is still inadequate in terms of organizational, structure, staff as well as content. Staff qualifications at all levels are still limited. As a result, training, retraining and updating of knowledge for staff capable of working in the international environment and training of peasants with the same level of advanced agriculture in the region is urgent for member of Vietnamese Agriculture Association.
